The Independent Radio News/London Broadcasting Company radio archive consists of 7,000 reel-to-reel tapes in a collection that runs from 1973 to the mid-1990s. This project focuses on the most noteworthy content - approximately 4,000 hours of recordings relating to news and current affairs.
Between 1983-1990 the Association of Independent Radio Companies operated the Independent Local Radio Programme Sharing Scheme to share excellent drama, documentaries, features and current affairs between Independent Local Radio stations. Search and enjoy over 1150 programmes from this unique collection.
This resource, c1300 individual programmes is a unique opportunity to listen again to programmes that were fortunately deposited with the Wessex Film and Sound Archive [WFSA] at the Hampshire Record Office in Winchester by independent local radio stations [ILRs] in the Central Southern (Dorset, Hampshire and Berkshire) area. A slice of culture, politics and events with a local perspective.
